I believe in nourishing the whole body - supporting our body’s systems, not just the symptoms

I love the brain!

As a neurodiverse girlie that has struggled with mental health, I am particularly interested in the gut-brain connection.

However, my deepest desire is to support individuals managing chronic health conditions. My work is deeply informed by a personal understanding of how discouraging and complex these health journeys can be, driving my commitment to facilitating positive change.

My journey into nutritional therapy…

began by seeing my dad’s health deterioration first hand. He had Multiple Sclerosis (MS), a chronic, autoimmune, neurodegenerative disease for which conventional medicine had no answers, no real help, no hope. From this, I developed a fascination for the inner workings of the human body. I studied Biomedical Sciences BSc with the aim of understanding my dad’s debilitating disease but, unfortunately, became even more disillusioned with the options available for most chronic health conditions. Around this time I found Dr. Terry Wahls, a medical doctor with MS who was able to reverse her symptoms through diet and lifestyle modifications. I needed to know more about alternative therapies, which lead me to a Master’s degree in Nutritional Therapy. I learned the hard way, however, that you cannot force someone to do things that you believe will benefit them. They need to want to help themselves. My dad passed away in April 2025. My deepest desire is to help alleviate the suffering of those burdened with chronic health issues, and that of their families. Because, despite conventional advice, we are not passive bystanders in the story of our lives. We are active participants. Though this may feel scary, it can also be very freeing, and even exciting!

My own health story…

is a story of control. As a teenager I had deep health anxiety (I wonder why!). This manifested in cycles of restriction followed by binge-eating and purging. I felt helpless to my life circumstances and food was one thing I thought I had control over. This, alongside growing up in a society that tells everyone we need to be a certain size/shape/weight further increased my need to control my food intake. Overcoming this cycle meant letting go of this control. And frankly, I had to get angry with the world. Angry that society had made me hate my body so much that I would starve it to achieve an unachievable standard. That anger was liberating for me.

Because of this, I know that health is never just about what we eat. It is about how we eat. It is about our mindset, our relationship with food, the strength of our social connections, our relationship with the work we do, what lights a fire inside that gives us energy, and so much more. It is looking at life holistically.

My own struggles with mental health from a young age have made me particularly interested in the connection between the gut and the brain - the “gut-brain” axis. The gut is increasingly being referred to as the “second brain”, and for good reason! With over 100 million nerve endings, the gut creates a huge amount of “information” that travels all around the body. It lets us know when it isn’t happy (pain/constipation/diarrhoea) and sometimes even knows things before we do (gut feelings). I believe Hippocrates was right when he said that ‘all disease begins in the gut’.
